STATUTORY BODIES

Governing Body

All the required statutory bodies like Governing Body, Finance Committee, Planning Committee are formed in accordance with the guidelines of the UGC . Dr Indhirani Sridharan, Retired Principal of Stella Marris College , Chennai is at present the UGC nominee on the Governing Body.

Borads of Studies

All the departments have separate Boards of studies with the HOD as Chairman. All the department members form the Board. There are student representatives also. The Board meets every year and recommends changes if any, in the syllabi, to be approved by the Academic Council. The Boards take into account the recent developments in their field and the needs of the students in framing the syllabi. The syllabi of each department very well compare with those offered by institutions of higher learning in India.

Academic Council

All permanent teachers of the College are members of the Academic Council. The Principal is the Chairman of the Academic Council and one member nominated by the Chairman and approved by the Council acts as the member - secretary. Besides, members nominated by the Madurai Kamaraj University and members representing trade, engineering and other professions nominated by the Madura College Board are also members of the Academic Council to offer their expertise in their respective fields to betterment of the quality of education in the College.

The Academic Council meets atleast once in a year to discuss and approve the syllabi recommended by the different Boards of Studies. Issues relating to starting of new courses, changes in the methods of evaluation, working of examination system etc., are discussed for implementation. Beside these, other committees required under Autonomy guidelines are formed.
